This tiny wall sculpture has been created using a fusion of techniques, blending millinery and block-making with intricate and abstract hand embroidery. The colour range is blues, golds and soft greys.
Using stitch to give form and solidity, as well as for mark-making, colour exploration and decoration, the ‘Transition’ series offers a visual dialogue between millinery and sculpture.
Original artwork, handmade in London by Karen Henriksen.

Materials: Re-inforced straw base overlaid with cotton twill, hand-embroidered with a mixture of silk, polyester, cotton and linen threads. Mounted on cotton twill base.
