‘Transition Vessel’

This new vessel has been created using millinery block-making techniques and materials. Like the earlier wall pieces below, stitch is used to re-inforce and solidify, as well as for mark-making. Here, the process is taken further, with additional painting, ironing and varnishing to achieve a smooth surface.

‘Transition’ Wall Pieces
2023 - 2025
Initially intended purely as reference points for future works, these small but vibrant 3-dimensional samplers have gradually evolved into a series of composed pieces in their own right.
Using stitch to give form and solidity, as well as for mark-making, colour exploration and decoration, the samplers offer a visual transition and dialogue between millinery and sculpture.
