The Discerning Eye 2026

I'm delighted that my new embroidery 'Contour/Fragmentation' will be on display at the ING Discerning Eye at Mall Galleries next month. Six independent selecters reviewed over 6,800 entries, choosing around 700 for the exhibition. All are small works across all media, each no more than 50cm in any dimension, and every work is for sale.

Selected by artist and scientist Jasmine Pradissitto, this piece is a development from my ‘Contour’ series, in which the beauty of discarded and scrunched paper is explored through various media and techniques. This piece takes the idea further, recreating through stitch, the mesh of lines, sometimes replacing angles with curves to create contrast and fluidity. The resulting composition is ambiguous, bringing to mind perhaps torn veiling or lace, a spiders web, or even a murmuration of starlings!
